The NHS Community Vaccination Team (CVT) will carry out the annual HPV immunisation programme on Monday 18 June for girls in S1 and S2 and catch–up vaccinations to S3-S6 girls who previously missed it, to protect against cervical cancer
This vaccine is designed to protect against the two types of HPV that cause 75% of the cases of cervical cancer, but uptake of this vaccine in Lothian has not been very high. It is important that girls get this protection early enough for it to be effective.
More information about this vaccination can be found on the Immunisation Scotland website. Alternatively, you can call NHS Inform on 0800 22 44 88 (8am to 10pm, every day).
